Lavinia Barbu is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work and a Coaching Diploma from New York University.
Additionally, Lavinia is a Certified Pilates and Yoga Instructor and a practitioner of many sports, incorporating therapy with life coaching and Pilates inspired exercises to instill both a healthy mind and a healthy body.

Prior to private practice, Lavinia had worked with children, adolescents and adults in individual therapy in the Post Graduate Center for Mental Health in New York and the Behavioral Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in New Jersey.
Lavinia believes in the individual’s ability to recover from mental and environmental adversities and specializes in trauma recovery, integrating mind and body techniques that allow survivors to make meaning of their experiences and to move forward, from a state of survival to a state of fulfillment.
Lavinia is an advocate for physical activity as an important and essential part of mental and psychological well-being. Therefore, her approach integrates walk and talk therapy, cognitive behavior strategies, Pilates and Yoga exercises and mindfulness techniques. This combination of therapeutic expertise, life skills, and physical exercises like walking, Pilates and yoga, enables her to help clients understand their lives from a mind and body perspective.
Lavinia has successfully worked with clients from many walks of lives who struggled with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem, co-dependency, new mothers and stress management.
